Natural Sunburn Relief

Sol, Ra, Sun, the brightest burning star is life giving, warm and healthy in small doses. Too much sun can be painful, harmful and deadly. There are many ways to protect yourself and loved ones from the dangerous UV rays. It is imperative to keep infants out of the sun. The melanin in infants skin isn't fully developed and they can burn more easily than older children and adults. Painful sunburn, premature aging of the skin, eye damage, heat stroke, skin cancer, and suppression of the immune system are not fun ways to enjoy the summer.

There are a multitude of natural oils and vitamins you can access to augment your boy's natural sun protection systems.Too much sun exposure can deplete your body of vitamins C & B which are an important defense against UV's harmful rays.

Enjoy Summer's harvest of fresh tomatoes, green peppers, broccoli, collard greens and a wide variety of citrus fruits and juices. Include many  vitamin B enriched foods to your diet. Eggs, tuna, bananas, wheat germ and spinach to name a few.

Melanoma is now the most common cancer in women age 25-29 and second to breast cancer in women 30-34. This year an estimated 74,000 adults in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive melanoma. Scary statistics!

Always try to wear protective clothing, a wide brimmed hat and dark sunglasses. Limit your sun exposure and when spending a lot of time outside try an all-natural sunscreen and apply often. Don't neglect your scalp, tops of ears!

If you do overindulge in the daylight there are many ways to bring comfort to your delicate, parched skin. Essential oils such as Lavender, which is very calming to the skin

Aloe Vera gel
Neem Oil
Sesame Oil
Refined coconut oil
Olive oil
Beeswax
Cocoa butter
Shea butter
Witch hazel

A few common kitchen ingredients to bring quick relief to your skin include,

Cool milk
Potato or Cucumbers (as a poultice)
Corn Starch or Baking Soda paste
Apple Cider Vinegar
Plain Yogurt
Oatmeal Baths
Mint Tea poultice

Don't forget to hydrate internally by drinking plenty of fluids.

Severe cases of sunburn is sun poisoning and requires immediate medical care. It is defined by blistering, red skin, massive fluid loss, dehydration, and possibly infection. Too much sun exposure can lead to shock and possible death. Chills, fever, nausea or vomiting flu-like symptoms should not be ignored. Go to the nearest first aid or emergency room.

May the Sun be gentle on you

Summer Safety Series: Natural, Nontoxic Tick and Mosquito Repellent

Gardening, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities can be the highlight of the summer season. Don't allow mosquito's or ticks to impede on a lovely summer day or peaceful warm evening.

Mosquito and tick bites are not only annoying, but can be downright dangerous. Transmitting many diseases from West Nile Virus to Lyme Disease. Commercial insect repellents can be just as scary and toxic to humans and our pets.

Mother Nature has bestowed upon us many plant compounds to help ward off these unwanted pests. Below is a list of plants and flowers that may be planted to bring beauty and protection during the summer months. I have also included a recipe for an all natural tick, flea, and mosquito repellent.

Plants to aid:

Marigolds
Thai Lemongrass
Citronella
Lemon Balm
Garlic
Rosemary
Geranium
Penny royal
Basil
Peppermint
Lavender

Recipe to ward off insects

Choose one or any combination of these essential oils:

Lemongrass
Clove
Tea Tree
Eucalyptus
Cedar
Citronella
Mint
Lavender
Catnip

Distilled Water
Witch Hazel
Clean, empty spray bottle 8oz size

1. Fill empty bottle with 4oz of distilled or boiled water.
2. Add 3oz of witch hazel
3. Add 35 drops of essential oils. You may mix scents to create your own personalized odor.
4. Secure cap and shake well. You may use this spray directly on your clothing or skin

Apply as needed, especially after bathing or swimming.

Cider apple vinegar is an excellent tick repellent -

Combine equal parts of vinegar and water. It may be sprayed directly on pets fur to ward off ticks. Be cautious not to spray animals eyes. Adding two tablespoons of lemon juice, citrus oil, or peppermint oil will aid in preventing fleas.

Another helpful hint is to build and display bat houses. Bats feast on 500-1000 mosquito's in one night.

Blessed Be the Bat

Eternity

Allow me to be your light,
When the sun refuses to shine.
Let me move the stars
And prove to you ~ you're mine.

I shall caress away your stress,
Just take me by my arm.
My Aura pulses brightly
As it shields you from all harm.

Hush, my Sweet One,
Lay your head upon my chest.
Quiet your frantic mind
My Peace gives you rest.

There is nothing to fear,
Not a thing I wouldn't do.
The Universe rejoices
In the Love I give to you.

I have loved you for Centuries
When the Earth was fresh anew.
Since before there was Life,
In the beginning ~ It was You.

When the planet no longer quakes,
No sky, no land or sea.
Unsheild your weeping eyes,
Together ~ We will Be.

There are no words describing,
Not Destiny nor Fate.
We are connected even deeper,
Our own world ~ we will Create.

"I Love you," is too simple,
This Love you cannot Define.
I am part of you
And you're completely Mine.

The Color Series: Blue

BLUE

The first color I will cover in this series, I chose blue because it is the most overall favorite universal color. Calming, tranquil blue, sedates the mind. It represents the throat chakra, which aides in calm, centered, open communication. Wearing blue exhibits security and confidence. The darker the blue, the more royal and respected. The cool vibration of blue is soothing and calming to use for anxiety, anger, stress, and restlessness.

Blue candles and gems such as azurite or blue laced agate, can be used in a number of spells for healing, protection, and general well being.

I leave you with peace and tranquility.

Creating Your Own Personalized Love Spell

All humans crave love on many different levels. I will explain a creative way of attracting or bonding an existing, loving, romantic relationship.

Items You May Use:

A small cloth bag or satchel

Possible dried flower petals to use are lavender, iris, carnation, violets, or the rose, of course

Possible crystlas include rose quartz, pink moonstone, rubellite, morganite, rhodocrosite, or the obvious...a diamond

Scents that you may use are lavender, rose, ylang ylang, or patchouli

A pink red or black writing utensil

A small piece of paper, approximately 4 inches by 4 inches

Ribbon of either red, pink, blue, or green hue, approximately 12 inches and cut in half

Any small personal item of significance to you or your intended love. Perhaps a small shell of a beach you visited together, a receipt from a shared meal, or a lock of hair. Not necessary, but does strengthen the spell.

To begin:

Write your name and your desires on the small piece of paper

Circle your names or enclose it with a heart

Then, roll up the paper and tie the ribbon securely around it as if it's a scroll

Place the scroll into the pouch

Hold the crystal of your choice tightly in your hand, allow your body heat and energy to infuse the rock as you deeply concentrate on your hearts desire. After you feel the crystal has been warmed properly, place it in the pouch

Add a few dried flower petals and a couple drops of the scented oil and any personal touches that are meaningful to you

This is a highly personalized spell and can be tailored to each individual. Tie the pouch shut with the remaining ribbon

Hold the package next to your heart for a few minutes while meditating on your person of choice

Repeat three times, (I love you and you love me, and together we will always be. Fire, Earth, Air, Spirit, and Sea. We are bonded, so mote it be.)

Place your spell bag under your pillow and sleep on it every night. Hold it often and visualize your dreams coming true.

This spell has worked very well for some of my closest friends. I hope it succeeds for you as well.

I hope to share candle magic and moon love spells in the future.

May your dreams come true and loyal love to you.

Introduction to Chakras

Chakras are seven points of energy aligned with your central nervous system. Ancient Indian mystics believe these centers absorb and radiate energy. It should flow freely. A blocked chakra can cause mental and physical illness.

The corresponding chart is a helpful aide in finding which crystal, color, and emotion each chakra is related and complimented by.

Many illnesses can be relieved by meditating on the effected area. Using complimentary crystals, scents, and visualization can alleviate mental and physical pain. Lying in a quiet room, place a specific colored crystal on your affected chakra. Burn a corresponding candle or incense as you clear your mind.

Visualize the blocked chakra becoming free. Pulsing energy of its correct color radiating outward. Much like breathing.
Meditate as long and as often as you desire.

It will quickly become easy for you to define which area needs focused on. Emotional stress would be your crown chakra, problems communicating, your throat chakra, digestive system solar plexus, ect. There are many books, videos, and information readily available to indulge deeper on the subject.

I find chakra balancing a very helpful tool in my own mental and physical health. I hope this has piqued your interest and may aide you and bring comfort to your life.
